A Camping Trip You'll Remember
4WD camping is fun and adventurous but also hardcore. Instead of toilets and places to shower you have bushes and water (usually a lake or river). It isn't high class but it is a great time.
There are many wilderness areas of beach and bush where camping is allowed. Access is normally only possible in a 4WD vehicle. Beach access is usually restricted by the tides a beach is used for the man thoroughfare for vehicles and the sand is at its smoothest and firmest when the tide is out.
Getting stuck in the sand happens a lot. You need to be able to drive on sand before you go out there or you will probably run into a little bit of trouble. Also make sure you have tools like rescue equipment just in case something were to happen.
Plan your trip well and list things that you will need to complete the activities that you want to achieve. Cooking requires gas, stove, firewood, grill, pots pans and utensils: Eating requires food, knives and forks and plates; sleeping requires some sort of mattresses, sheets, pillows etc and essentials should include sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of drinking water. The level of your comfort is totally your choice, from a bucket and sponge to elaborate solar powered water heating equipment but the more you take, the more you have to unpack!!
With the fantastic weather in Queensland and the excellent beaches and bus locations close to the city, 4WD camping offers affordable family outings that will be looking forward to and long remembered. Just remember to take everything home with you and just leave your footprints and your tyre marks.
